Look, we didn't start this practice because we thought immigration law sounded fun. We started it because we've seen what happens when people fall through the cracks - when someone's entire future hangs on paperwork they can't understand, or when families get separated by bureaucratic nonsense that could've been avoided.
Started out as a solo practitioner working outta a cramped office in North York. My first client was a taxi driver facing deportation - his case files were a mess, but we pulled through. That's when I knew this work mattered more than any corporate gig ever would.
Hired our first associate lawyer and paralegal. We'd outgrown that tiny space and moved to Victoria Park. Started specializing more in refugee claims - turns out that's where people need the most help, and honestly, where the system's most broken.
Won a landmark deportation appeal that set precedent in Ontario. Media coverage brought in more clients, but also more responsibility. We expanded our detention review services - nobody should sit in immigration detention without proper representation.
Pandemic hit hard, but we went fully remote for consultations while keeping the office open for those who needed in-person meetings. Processing times got worse, but we figured out how to navigate the new digital systems faster than most.
We're a team of seven now, handling everything from family sponsorships to complex refugee claims. Still in the same suite on Victoria Park, but with way better coffee and a client lounge that doesn't feel like a government waiting room. The work's still tough, but we're good at it.
Founder & Senior Immigration Lawyer
Been practicing immigration law since 2009. Originally from Halifax, moved to Toronto for law school and never left. Outside of work, I'm usually trying to keep my vegetable garden alive or losing at squash.
Associate Lawyer
My family came here as refugees in the 90s, so this work's personal for me. Fluent in Arabic and French, which comes in handy more than you'd think. I'm also the office's unofficial tech support person, for better or worse.
Senior Paralegal
I'm basically the person who makes sure nothing falls through the cracks. Been with the firm since 2016. Speak Mandarin and Cantonese. Obsessed with organizing systems - my label maker's probably my most-used tool.
Associate Lawyer
Former Crown prosecutor who switched sides in 2019. Turns out defending people's right to stay in Canada's way more satisfying than prosecuting parking tickets. Polish speaker, hockey fan, decent cook.
Legal Assistant & Client Coordinator
I'm the friendly voice you'll hear when you call. Been here since 2020. Speak Hindi, Punjabi, and Urdu. I keep everyone's calendars straight and make sure clients actually understand what's happening with their cases.
Law Clerk & Research Specialist
The person who finds the obscure case law that wins appeals. Recently called to the bar but still love the research side. Coffee addict, mystery novel enthusiast, occasional marathon runner who mostly just talks about running.
We're not just saying we know our stuff - we've got the papers to prove it. These organizations keep us updated on law changes and best practices so you don't have to worry about outdated advice.
